I have sat back and read through various conversations over the last few years where different people have tried to influence the direction of Karting and I think its time I tried to help bring some pragmatism to the discussions.
There is and always has been a method for drivers to contribute to the sport, its been through volunteering at a club and joining the committee, I did it and to be honest for a significant minority of the time I regret doing it.
The touble is that the majority of individuals in karting are generally apathetic towards the governance and organisation of the sport they just want to race with as little grief as possible.
Very few members turn up to published pre arrange committee meeting where they can put across issues with solutions that the club can then back and try to implement.
There are a few individuals who are passionate about the sport however without the mass support of the majority it will be difficult to change / influence anything.
A fragmented approach to trying to build a plan won't work, what's needed is to use the Clubs by getting involved in the running of the clubs to improve the sport we enjoy.
If you can't beat them join them, quiet revolution from within is always more efficient than a full blooded battle and revolution from outside.
Only my opinion.
