I agree entirely with your comments, and applaud the "even-ness" of the TKM class. I have run TAG, DD, clutched, and both of the latter with and without blue restrictor somewhere near the weight limit. The reasons I gave up on TAG were weight and reliability. If the reliability is better sorted I may well consider TAG again when my current pair of clutched engines are a bit more old and tired.
The different setups do have slightly different characteristics to one another, but in terms of overall performance they are close. The old TAG engines always had the top end power, but lacked a little compared with DD on the way out of corners. It would seem this has now been improved from recent results, but as a club driver rather than S1, the differences were never big compared with getting a decent setup and learning to drive properly.
