Hi Kartcollector,
Senior open is a class in the Formula 6 4 stroke championship. Its pretty much as it says, open, however there are a few limits. Being an MSA championship you of course need a license and all the correct legal gear. The kart must have no more than 30hp, only a single engine, has to be 4 stroke, kart must comply to MSA regulations, anddddddd thats pretty much it :)
The current championship leader (Mr Hollywood) is running a 2001/2 LRG chassis, and i think a 7/8 year old engine, and uses mostly second hand tyres each race. Second place is on a 2012/13 Maranello chassis and a Tech F1 engine, and puts on a new set of Vega whites each race. This class really isn't about the money, its cheap, fun and very competitive. The class caters for pretty much any 4 stroke kart engine going, Swissautos, Bilands, Tech F1's, EcoMoto's, Vampires, Aixro XR30's... and any of the 4 strokes run on the continent (restricted to 30hp). Find one, sling it on your chassis and come join the fun!
This year (my first year in the class) was run over 7 rounds, (the last being at buckmore on the 28th this month). Visiting 6 tracks, 3 home (buckmore, bayford and lydd), 3 away (clay, whilton and ellough). 2 rounds were at bayford as the first round was the F6 O plate. So far this season i think the minimum track time wise has been practice of 3 laps, timed qualifying of 10 minutes, 2 heats, and then a final. During away rounds you get 3 hours practice in the morning, and because of this the entry fee is £20 extra.. but that's still only 70quid.
I've had my GoPro on for every round, here's Round 1 if your interested - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKeHFCHaSGE
Thanks, Thomas..................
