Storing horizontal is fine - problems can arise when the kart is stored vertically with fuel running into the carb. Might be worth double checking with a spirit level that there is not a backwards tilt (if so, just turn the kart round).
Do you use something like Mr Funnel to make sure there is no water in the fuel? Otherwise maybe the possibility of water settling overnight.
