Having problems with Iame carbon build up. Only 5-6 hrs after last service with new piston / ring / hone etc, last weekend the engine seemed to lose bottom end power. I stripped the head and noticed that there was some 'blow-by' apparent on the piston and in the cylinder, as well as the ring sticking due to carbon build-up. There was also substantial build up of carbon on the piston crown. Cleaning and unsticking the ring returned the bottom end power.

The plug seemed to be a good sandy colour and leaning off the jets resulted in poor power, suggesting to me that the carb wasn't set too rich.

I am using Shell M at 3% as recommended.

Has anybody else had this problem ? What is the best (legal !) oil to use to slow down this build up or am I destined to spend many hours stripping and cleaning !

Any help would be much appreciated.
