In Rotax racing it seems one of the highest monthly costs is a new set of Mojo slicks every month. We have found Mojos to be very consistant to up to 200 laps depending on the conditions you use them in. But at most tracks in Mini & Junior if you don't race on new slicks you will be upwards of 2 tenths off the pace. Some tracks Wombwell being one of them you can race on one race day old Mojos and still be on or very close to the pace. But for most tracks it's £135 a race meeting before you start on the other costs. What about the scrutineers taking the tyre bar codes, entering them into a simple register and running a rule that you have to race on those tyres for at least 2 race days? The mojos would take 3 race days in fact and still be reasonably consistant. I hear people already saying what if someone is on new and someone else being forced to use one race day old tyres. It's no big deal as this would even out through the season, also it would give the lower budget - non team - lads and dads a chance of a result against those with a higher budget. If this plan is sensible, how do you go about introducing it, either at individual club level - which could attach new entrants to the club due to the lower costs etc. or at a national level through MSA? There just doesn't seem to be any desire to reduce costs - although all the right noises are made, the costs are still there, in the meantime Mini And Junior & possibly senior grids are dying everwhere apart from the 'star' - mega money clubs such as PFI, to the point where the clubs themselves may not continue!
