I've done this conversion to 2 of these, an '05 and an '08. Makes less difference than you'd think, but is certainly no slower, especially on a sticky track. The bearings and carriers came from Dartford Karting, listed as a Wildkart part. Everything else is just standard 50 mm. '08 was on a Wildkart Pulsar caliper, and everything just swapped straight over. Not sure if yours will be exactly the same - my '05 kart was a bit more work.
I've tried medium and hard axles so far, and if there's anything in it I really couldn't tell you, they seem pretty much the same to me. I think I'd go for medium next time just because it's got to be less brittle, so might last longest. As you are a heavy driver like me, the biggest issue I had was with front end stiffness with the new tyres. Project 1 did a thicker floor which helped...
