I can understand the frustration surrounding this issue.
Talko are getting the flack, but inevitably, you will never please all of the people all of the time. At least by maintaing the 1st April 'cut-off' we all had a chance to crucify the 'old wets' in readiness for the new ones, or not and if you decided to buy the news ones straight away then that was also your choice, nobody insisted they had to be on the new ones straight away ..imagine the problems that would have incurred with supply etc
I seem to remember we (TKM) were in the same position when the 'red wets' were introduced over the old 'green wets' (remember them!!! :))there was a similar reaction then but the fact is you just have to get on with it.
As stated above, we are all in the same position now - ie from 1st April there is one tyre for the wet and therefore only one option to use .......for me that will make things a bit simpler
We were at Kimbolton on Sunday, new set of 'new wets' purchased and used and I have to say the feedback was that they work better. We did not find they took the supposed 40 - 50 laps before they 'come on' and found a reasonable pace straight away. Also, we didn't notice drastic wear rates that have been quoted, I think as Glenn Guest has said above, providing you get the pressures right the wear rate seems to be better than the previous ones, particularly on a drying track which it was come the final.
If I had to moan, I would say it did stick in the throat a bit that our set of 'old wets' were almost like new, had only been used for one race prior to Sunday and were still in excellent condition (theres an advert in there somewhere I think!),so to have to buy a new set was a blow, but if the rules say we must change, then change we must do ........or Hooten park here we come!!!!!!
