Interested to hear other experiences with this. I'm running in a new IAME Parilla cadet engine. So far its looking promising, once started. However, the recoil starter is a total headache. I realise that the first batch had a poorly manufactured plastic recoil flange which will break. On my initial IAME loan engine the recoil starter failed on the grid at PFI. On my new engine the pull cord broke on the 3rd pull and a second time on the grid (even treating it gently and releasing the compression on pulling as advised)IAME don't appear to be supplying upgraded units with the new engine and are waiting for customers to go back for one after failure - not exactly proactive. Just about everyone seems to be having problems with jamming, cord breakages etc and often on the grid - which is especially grim and wastes track time, position and money. I seriously question whether IAME have done any tolerance testing on these units and the pull cord itself? It might be worth replacing the pull cord with some marine grade kevlar cord as the one supplied seems to fray and break way too easily. I now have an 'upgrade' unit fitted, fingers crossed - hopefully next weekend racing pleasure won't be down to a piece of string....
