Look at exactly where the front of the old pod bars used to clamp. Right at the point where the chassis flexes the most. I too dismissed it as rubbish, until I tested it. From having a rock solid grip level, the change in characteristic nearly threw me off the track! Tried at many different circuits and it ALWAYS proved a useful tuning aid. I was never a fan of the loosen this and that. If I think something is rubbish, because my logic says it shouldnt work, I just test it. If it does work, try to understand why, if I cant, then tuff.
If you left the suspension loose on your road car, even just a copy of silly small bolts :) do you think you would notice a difference?
I dint think the new pods have much of an impact at all, just down ti the fact of their mounting location compared to the old, and the fact people, run them slack/tight is a habit copied from when it did work. The moment I saw the way the newer pod bars were mounted, I suspected it wouldnt work anymore, tested it, and it didn't.
Test test test its the only way. I dont do placebo by the way, ive raced for too long and am too fussy :)
