I've been recommend a variation on Liam's advice. Do one practice session (typically 8-10 laps) at 10-11.5k revs, then one at 12-13.5k and finally at 14-14.5k. Accelerate hard as in normal driving, but choke the engine each time you reach the above limits keeping your foot fully on the accelerator until the engine revs fall. When the revs fall stop choking and either get back on the accelerator or brake (if at a corner). Doing this will ensure plenty of fuel / oil mixture is drawn into the engine. It will smoke lots when you accelerate, but will keep everything well lubricated. After the third session richen the high jet by 5 mins and then give it full revs in the next session. If your track has a long straight then choke at the end of it for the first couple of laps. In the next session weaken back down by 5 mins on the high jet. If you are on a new barrel then its good to add a tooth or two to your sprocket help bring on the engine a bit faster.
I've been advised not to extend the running in process over too many laps, or keep the revs too low, otherwise you risk ending up with a slow engine.
