Lots of good suggestions here to try. But in your first note you don't mention when the problem started. What did you do to create this issue? Was it a rebuild or a new chassis or has it always been there with the current kit. These things don't happen on there own. We normally do something to cause it.
1/ Was it a gradual or a sudden change 2/ If you can't find the issue in the awning then it probably only comes under load. ie on the track. Check your axle bearings 3/ If poss borrow an engine as buzzinrussell says (you need to tick the big chunks off the list). Or lend your engine to do the same test on another chassis. 4/ Does the chain go tight then loose. Could be the carrier mounting diameter is too small. The result is that the sprocket will not centre correctly (I had this one once). Fixed it for the day with some baco foil out of the caravan.
Good luck,
Danlee
