Hi
I have done some searching and found few thrreads which answer most of my questions in particlaur
http://www.karting.co.uk/Notice/Message.asp?FID=2&MsgID=0000463087
We were out a couple of weeks ago when the sun was out and very warm! And had axle hopping it is a Tec Mec Voodoo 2004 with a 30mm axle (1040mm) and where I was getting some hopping around one tight 180 deg corner my friend who shares the kart got it worse! So much so that unfortunately he managed to actually flip it – a bump in the track did not help…
He is fine apart from a few bruises…lucky boy
So this thread answers most of the issues, he is lighter than me (15kg) though same height and the kart was set up with me in mind more than him… so could look at moving the seat though as we share it will always be a compromise to move the C of G
We are already running a wide axle as possible though we could look at different hubs to extend that width further?
The tyres were old Sl6’s running around 11psi – we can not go much lower as we don’t have bead retainers on the wheels, as the tyres were old did this also contribute to the hopping? I.e. newer tyres with more grip will slide more instead of hop? Especially on hot days?
Last question apart from giving the kart a good looking over and bending replacing some bits that were damaged is there anything less obvious I should check over before going back out on the kart bearing it mind it flipped landing on the steering wheel ( steering wheel and column bent but have been re shaped and should be fine) rods and rose joints in the bin as damaged
Thanks all
alex
