The trouble with the current costs is that for many people it is just about affordable, but not for very long. Most people will put up without the cars, holidays etc. for a while, but sooner or later the wife will put their foot down or they simply run out of money.

The myths that are propagated about drivers being 'found' and then get help or sponsorship, suck people in and then the karting business sucks their pockets dry before dumping them.

Thus people are then lost for good. Karting is not sport any more it's simply business, a cash cow for a few dozen individuals. Ironically the only way to really stay in the sport, is to make it your business as well to some extent, but then you become part of the problem.
