You're absolutely correct that every motor needs to be geared individually. Much depends on the port timing that the engine preparer has used and the consequent power curve, as well as the motors "natural" power. Anybody that adheres to the official Tal-Ko line on max rpm will definitely be losing out at Kim although not so much at certain other tracks such as Whilton or PF. Most don't realise that the BT is a very short stroke motor, shorter than the old 20,000rpm+ 100cc rotary/reed motors, and so although obviously rebuild intervals will plummet reliability is not an issue, it won't fall apart if you hit 16,800. My advice to ac1962 would be to run 10:78 as a starting point and adjust as necessary (email me & I'll be more specific).
