Firstly may I start by saying you've recieved some very sound advice from all of the above.

I've recently gone through what your planning, though by a different route. (Bored, Xmas, Ebay, No Karting Knowledge, 2xTKM's, Silly Bid - - -Shxx I've Won). And so it was that Hannah 13, Chris 11, Sue(My Wife) and I entered karting. The first time H&C went out I could have walked faster.

H & C started in the TKM's but following advice spent 2 months in Corporates before returning to the TKM's

In an ideal world I would first say dont buy anything. Find a good arrive and drive circuit, which understands karting as a motorsport, not one of the 99% which only see it as a recreational activity from which they can make money. Find one run by people who particpate in karting. Such a circuit will allow you to use their Safety Clothing and will be less restrictive on the time you can go along. Also if you bend anything, as you surely will, it wont be your problem. We used Tamworth Karting.

As part of your search I also HIGHLY recommend that you find a circuit who can offer you the services of a YOUNG FEMALE INSTRUCTOR, in our case Jade Paveley. It may seem an expensive idea hiring an instructor, but trust me it will pay off massively. I tried teaching Hannah and Chris myself for a few weeks and it almost back fired massively, for a number of reasons. (You can imagine, Dad is awful and doesnt know anything etc etc. Instructor is cool etc etc)

Also drivers under instruction, by circuit staff, are usually well looked after by the circuit. i.e. other inconsiderate drivers will be asked to leave etc.

Once she has her confidence up, your daughter's lap times will drop and you'll know when she's ready to move onto her own kart. By which time the choice of kart will have become more apparent.

H & C had instruction, for 2 hours once a week for about 10 weeks, costing approximately £150 per week, which included On and Off Track Tuition. A lot of money I know, but definately worth it. (H&C's lap times are now only 3 to 4 seconds behind junior tkm champions). Pre Corporate Karts it was costing me almost £100 a week in fuel, track time and repairs. (Your costs will be cheaper as you are only paying for your daughter).

Hope that helps.
