04 were the most sought after barrels up until around 07 which have the best top end power (so i am told) 09 for bottom end in snr. Hard to know if you have a good engine you have a good engine know matter what the year, people on this forum would tell u 08 were the worst rotax built but my friend won everything going over here on an 08 against some good drivers who have won british super 1 rounds and o plates. 04 is also a good year for carbs as well as 98,99 and 2000 but again there are some bad ones from those years. Really its all down to setup exhaust,powervalve,reed block and carb settings get all these things write and you will not be far off the pace. I don't know much about gillard chassis but would not think it would be that far off when set up correct.
