You don't need to look very far to see the ultimate result of greed and bad regulation in karting. In France the turning point IMO was an unjustified and unnessasary 5kg weight increase for every class followed by the imposition of plastic bumpers at £100 each and then Keystarts on TAG engines at about £400. This year a whole class was replaced for no other reason than bringing in a new one that's basically the same. Next year several engines and carbs are being changed, no phasing out, just sorry that's scrap now, more money please if you want to race.
What is scary is how quickly it can collapse. In the space of only two years, karting in France has virtually collapsed. We've gone to the equivalent of Non MSA where grids in some areas have for the first time been larger than Federal (FFSA) racing.
