Is the battery on the chassis rail or on the back of the seat, if its on the chassis rail its more than likely the battery because there is a vast amount of vibration through the kart and it breaks the battery fairly often. Get a seat mounted battery box then battery failures are very rare.

you say that it pops and bangs at high revs this is a classic symptom of a faulty battery.

and also have checked that the air box is not full of water as it can get full of water in the wet.

and also check the coil earth earth wire normally black they tend to snap where the connector.
