you know what,im getting a bit hacked off with TKM!
could someone give me a little advice on a subject related to this question.it may take a little while to explain
my chassis snapped on the main rail(where it curves in,between the stub and the seat)which is a horrible place for it to crack.
i have welded it up but dont hold much hope for it to hold
at the kartmania show i made a point of speaking to tal-ko about the legality of me putting a small collar over the weld/tube to just try to strengthen it a bit,i realised it may compromise handling but i wanted to try and make it last until i can see a clear trend with the new regulations
i was told that i cannot do this because adding the collar will be seen as adding a "torsional device" to the chassis which was illegal(although they were happy for me to weld the tube inside!!?? which is a more complicated process).
i went away slightly puzzled and spoke to JKH who disagreed with tal-ko but said i should speak to paul fletcher for clarification which i duly did(good job i chose kartmania to get clarification)
pail fletcher agreed with tal-ko but i pointed out that REAL torsion bars were now allowed to be welded onto the chassis and yet my repair which is also welded and permanent is seen as an illegal torsional device and that was a crazy ruling.paul actually agreed with me and thought maybe there needed to be clarification and im not actually sure he wanted ANY torsion bars to be welded to karts because of the grey areas it encouraged
this clarification from tal-ko,im not sure it helps me at all.i havent raced sisnse september, partly because of the chassis but also mostly because i have been completely de motivated by everything that has been going on in tkm,im not a happy bunny and certainly cant afford a new chassis at the moment
anyone got any ideas?
