I believe it's to do with the heat etc.. Knocking off a few teeth reducing the maximum revs increases the life because for one it's not reving as hard, so the piston isn't wearing the bore, the heat is less because your not at such high rpm, the crank isn't spinning as fast so isn't putting as much strain on the main bearing and seals as it would at higher rpm. I'd go to 16:1 on the oil, then set the gearing to same as a TKM Extreme at your track, that way you'll only be hitting about 15,500 revs, and you'll have more oil so the engine will last longer, but you'll go faster XD
Just curious, but do Rotax's go to your track? And when they come up against you, whats your engine like pulling wise? Do they get away or can't they pass?
