oh yes no pain no gain , you will be cornering harder than anything youve ever driven ,pad the seat with foam in the places worst effected never go out without rib protector,go along to the shows coming up ie kartmania etc and try different rib protection each of you will prefer a different make & model ,track time will help,my son gets a lump the size of a tangerine every time we race no matter what we do .just enjoy the ache.
