you probably need to take the clutch housing off to look at the condition of the clutch. you will need a 17mm socket to undo the nut. Remember it is a left handed thread on the nut. use a piston stop to stop the engine turning over, or alternativey thread a piece of pull cord down the spak plug hole to lock the piston. In terms of setting up the throttle you should leave a little slack in the cable so your daughter isn't 'riding the pedal' the whole time, she may also be riding the brake which is causing the clutch to slip. you say
the engine got hot? do you know how hot? i'm not sure of your experiance but anything between 180c and 220c isn't unfamiliar when racing. as far as i am aware there is no adjustment on the clutch.
