Have you tried retarding the ignition timing?

If you don't know how, you take the recoil starter off, then the fan (you need a puller) then the ignition is exposed. Loosen the bolts and then adjust clockwise (i think, from memory).
You will need to only move it very small amount and you would do well to get the official way of measuring timing cause you might retard it too far!
