Y do you like trying to wind us up? Don't understand that one :S I see just as many what you call 'bandits'(which I think is a stupid thing to call drivers who are having a go and a try with whatever they can afford) in Rotax so I don't get it but anyways aint going to ramble on about that because we'd be here til midnight.

I understand TKM is cheaper and you might expect people to do it in a recession but when the recession started people have their karts anyway, entry fees are still the same price so no need to switch. At the end of the day motorsport requires some form of money, TKM just has a lower set up cost which is the key to newcomers coming into it and people who have a budget. It is a fun class you dont need to throw money at and gives people a hobby.
I would say on the whole more newcomers do come into TKM than Max anyway as Max seems to be the step up from TKM especially if you want to do europe which I dont see as a problem, but there ain't enough joining karting anyway in the first place. TKM hasn't just died, infact there are more TKMs on a grid at hooton and gyg than Max, especially jnrs. It varies track to track. TKM could be the affordable fun class to get people into the sport which I feel is what should be being focused on and pushed as opposed to trying to compete with Rotax etc with drastic reg changes. That is the market needing to be targeted and in my opinion the way to get more business if done correctly. It just needs promoting and some effort putting in to show people it is affordable if you want it enough and put your money in the right places.
