Was just changing the oil seals on my engine and noticed there is quite a bit more end float with the oil seals removed! Is this normal?? My guestimation is that it isnt as I dont recall this difference when I first rebuilt the engine :-s

I've searched on here and looked in the 'Maintaining 100cc Kart Engines' book but can't find any mention of whether you should measure end float with the seals in or out?

The engine has done around 10 hours of practice (i.e. <15000rpm) only since it was last rebuilt. I didnt change the mains at the time though as I'd forgotten to buy new ones. Bit of a silly thing not to do I know, but I'm only testing at the mo and the mains that were in there still felt decent.

Thanks in advance,
Andy
