Your memory is failing a tiny bit , Itpro! DK wasn't around in the 60's, nor indeed when roy Mailer was british champ (he was a deavinson driver anyway). But your correct in the principle - the offer to buy the winners motor was in the late 70's early 80's and would have been the likes of Mark Treadwell & Gary Prior.
The problem for engine tuners these days, is that the rules don't allow them to tune anymore! Back then ANY motor could be made quick by machining the ports and valve to the optimum dimensions. These days they have to measure and select the parts without actually modding them. Its a traders paradise! More money for less actual work!
The MSA have got to get back in charge of British karting. There should be NO commercial, one make, no tuning classes in MSA karting!
