Formula Blue Engine Problem

I have a non starting Iame engine. At the end of last season, on the last race, the chain came off so I pulled off. The engine kept on high reving. The plug lead was pulled off straight away but it kept on. I then pulled the fuel pipe off and it stopped. On checking, I found the carb was loose so I think it must have probably pulled in air, ran weak, over heated and ran on.
Anyway, the engine still has good compression and cranks OK, but wont start as there is no spark. I have change the coil with another engine but no luck. The ignition pact on the back of the engine looks ok but I need some readings.
Does anyone know any readings/outputs from either of the two plugs coming from the ign. unit on the engine. One has 3 pins, the other has 4 pins. Could it be a problem in the start/battery control box? I want to sell the kart but who would want a non-starter.
I would appreciate any help on the matter.
