Apologies for the poor timing of the AGM, we realised it wasnt ideal. Unfortunately several of the committee, including myself, were at La Conca for the Rotax during the KartMania weekend, we'll see if it can be held there next year. Same for the prev weekend, some key people not available. Shenington was at the suggestion of a long distance traveller (he had to come further than the originally planned Coventry hotel). By having it at Shenington (and PFI would have been the other option) at least we got those working in the paddock that day. 12 clubs sent representatives, thank you. Regarding suggestions for cutting costs, all welcome, but to put the record straight the ABkC tendered out for the tyre contracts two years ago and obtained substantial reductions. I believe the Cadet slick is only £1.50 more than it was 10 years ago? And Bridgestone prices are less than 6 years ago. Has anyone actually tried racing on these mythical £40 sets of tyres, I suspect the quality and consistency is far less than most would be prepared to accept. One potential supplier of cheaper tyres pulled out after declaring the quality would not be up to our standards. However that's no reason for complacency and we'll look at it all again next year, in the meantime remember that although the fuel costs spiked trade tyre prices this year, the exchange rate is inevitably going to have an effect on next year's prices, for instance a year or so ago the yen was at 238 to the £, now 137!! And we all know about the euro. Clubs too are doing their part, as has been mentioned, and for instance Shenington is holding its club member fees steady for the fourth year running. And only £100 for the next three race meetings.
