If you could get your own kart for £165 then the whole world would get into karting. You should look for a secondhand / retirement outfit. There are some on the Market Place of this site. Start with a budget of around £1200 for reasonable kart, which will probably come with some spares. Before you even contemplate buying, go to a few race meetings and talk to the drivers and 'financiers' to find out what is actually involved / required. There is a race meeting at Wombwell on the 2nd weekend in December. They have a grid of TKMs so talking to those drivers etc. will give you some ideas. Oh yes. Wombwell is off Junction 36 of the M1, so not very far from you. Check out http://www.southyorkshirekartclub.co.uk/html/information.html for more details.
