Find out the bore sizes first. 54.25mm-54.75mm in 0.1mm increments. The barrels cannot be re-linered, and with a new barrel & piston costing over £400 it may be best to go for the one on the smallest bore size. Not 100% sure, but I think the Attak will be legal until 2012, although as itpro says it may need modding to accept latest style sidepod bars. Check the underside of the front chassis cross tube, they wear through from scraping on the ground when being lifted to start. If the flat is wider than 14mm, there is less than 0.5mm metal thickness left. If poss, take the seat out and look across the rear axle to the top of the kingpin bolts to check the chassis is straight, and check the left rear rail under the rear axle doesn't curve upwards. If all seems okay, why not try and do a deal for both motors, its a buyers market, and it'll save him some hassle advertising it.
