We race Rotax, Leopards and Fireballs in the RAFMSA series.
The Leopard has comparable performance to the Rotax, but is very low maintenance (in our experience). No need to charge batteries (they self-charge), generally no need to fiddle with carb settings, and no power valve to worry about. My personal opinion is that it also provides a nicer racing experience, but downside is they're now hard to come by in the UK, and AFAIK the only competitive series where they're raced in the UK is the RAFMSA.
The Fireball in principle also has comparable performance to the Rotax, and is cheap to buy. It has to be said though, we've had a few problems with them, particularly with respect to the clutches and starters on them. The other problem is again, few places to race them competitively.
