LOL - ding ding - round 1!
I dont race in either class, but recently weighed up the options very closely. And went to one of the most respected successful engine builders in both classes to get the full insight.
If you want to win in X30, be prepared to spend £5K on a top selected-part motor, and it needs a full rebuild every 8 hours, also the tyes come from 2 different factories, so prepare yourself for a lot of tyre variation. If you buy a motor new you dont get a warranty, and when it goes kaboom (I know loads that have) then you have a lovely new doorstop.
Rotax - the evo kit has apparently leveled out the playing field a lot more and this year has see a big rise in Rotax fields at club and S1 level. It goes 25hrs between rebuilds and if you buy new, you get 12 months warranty.
But really it depends on your local grids..overall, dont be afraid to commit to Rotax......just trying to be helpful.
