Bassound, most do use used tyres - one race day old + practice day old tyres - certainly in Rotax. My lad got fastest lap and won on tyres that were two race days old with us and then another race day and practice with a team. If you do MSA, it makes sense to run on new for that and then on those tyres at Fulbeck non MSA. The odd person does turn up with new but not many. Also there is a desire to set rules to what the majority in a particular class want, so if enough in a particular class wants a rule, it will be put in place if it fits in with running the vent and fairplay. So re use of tyres through barcode recording (which is already done on race day instead of marking) and you use the same tyres on the next race day or even for 3 race days could be implemented. A register of whom is on what use - first second or third could go online (via facebook or other) so all could see whom is on what and the 'slower drivers' may have more of a chance against the quicker drivers maybe who also use new tyres all the time, as slower might be on first use and faster might be on third use. Throughout the season it evens out.
