Nothing wrong with starting it on the stand but I wouldn't run it for long. Some people won't go to the dummy grid without doing it but I can't see the point unless you've maybe changed the carb and/or engine and just want to double check your work.
Worth noting that some clubs won't allow you to start your karts on the stand either.
Others think that their engines start easier when they're cold as well so something to bear in mind.
If you just prime the carb by hand there's no need for he remote starter at all but totally up to you.
itpro - would it be ok to send me your bump starting instructions just out of interest? Also, did you write the axle fiutting guid or was that alnrr? If you did, could you please send me that one as well? olin_s at hotmail.com
