Cheers for info. Alan r and taking the time to post it.
Yeah jetting too high, will run smaller on next test.
Noted on end float, was hoping a few hours on it would free it up, but there is no mechanism that would produce end float by running the engine as there is no side thrust on the crank when running or maybe very little. What puzzles me is how can the engine builders generate end float when you should not alter the crank, crank cases or bearings and I think there are no thrust shims ??
I have a compression tester so will check that against a known good engine so I have comparative figures. I think it is only sealed through the base of the cylinder so we could have a look at the top.
Noted on the PV could try that, I might just get new bellows but this would be a good test to rule out the whole PV.
The oil doesn't seem to be coming from the header ball joint or header to cylinder gasket, it seems to be coming from around the PV area. One spring each side, but have more to put two on.
I live about 50 miles north of Fulbeck, next time out will probably non MSA weekend in feb 14th - 15th. A good friend from racing has seen my post offered his kit to play a swapping game to eliminate components. The quickest might be to swap the bare engine with PV for mine keeping all my ancillaries on, which would quickly point to the engine and / or PV and rule out all the other ancillaries.
I'm sure we will get to the bottom of it. It's just a little frustrating when obvious issues don't seem to remedy it and without spares it difficult to pin down!
