Cheers Banzai I'll check this that way. I thought with the pipe connected to the carb if the fuel flows back after blowing it through sucking air back with it, it is an indicator the carb needle valve is not sealing / dry, sometimes a couple of blows are required to wet it to get it to seal.
flow back with the pipe disconnected might show the membranes in the pump are not sealing properly.
