Have we not seen all this before?

Talko make the engines and make the rules. They also produce chassis and to varying degrees support certain drivers. As the manufacturers they potentially have control of who gets the best engines coming off the production line.

There is potential for a significant conflict of interest here.

Everyone who races TKM accepts that some engines are better than others so we don't start off with a level playing field. In a class where no modification is allowed the variation in engine performance can be greater than in a tuning class where differences between engines in manufacture can be levelled out. Is it not better that all the engines should be capable of being machined to achieve the tolerances permitted by the fiche? This avoids the selected barrels reserved for certain customers or works drivers.

Over the years various engine tuners have found ways of exploiting the fiche to maximum advantage. Those that are good at this have everyone flocking to their door and as a consequence become Talko's best customer. It must be very difficult in these circumstances to maintain an arms length relationship.

The bulletin issued by Talko is not in response to any change in the rules or in fact anything that needed clarification so what has prompted this now? I am sure engines regularly are deemed illegal in scrutineering for being out of fiche? Does anyone know whose engines have been found to be illegal? If it is so blatant should it not be public knowledge?
