Whilst safety is very important, especially when it involves children, there is a strong argument about ruining the sport by going too far. So those who support standing starts on safety grounds, do you also support full wrap around bumpers? If not, why not?
A perhaps worthy point in all this is do we need blanket regulations across all age groups? Perhaps what's right for children isn't necessarily what's right for adults, who are able to make an informed choice about the risks they take. Indoor karting is very safe and yet we all choose outdoor, so there's a line there somewhere that we're all happy to cross in order to increase the thrill factor, even when it comes to choosing where our kids race.
All parents of child racers have chosen to allow their child to risk their health so that they can enjoy themselves. So you can't argue every point on safety grounds as it's not black and white.
