Just how challenging Rissi is will only become apparent to some when the race results and timesheets are posted on race day. There is a bit of history of visiting “hotshots” being humbled at Rissi. It’s a track where a small inaccuracy at particular corners can lose considerable time; the dog-leg is one example. At the loop complex the track is so wide that the racing line is not obvious, consequently plenty of drivers get this section wrong and are left vulnerable down the back straight.
From the racers perspective there are plenty of overtaking opportunities at every single corner on the circuit. I’ve seen some absolutely brilliant racing there, both in the wet and dry.
It will be interesting to see just how well folks new to Rissi actually do in S1. If they don’t do too well then perhaps they’ll gripe and blame pot-holes, lack of palm trees or something else.
