Its been a few years since we were in junior but I doubt much has changed - You should not restrict full throttle as it is needed at two points on most straights - part way through acceleration as normal before lifting back to part throttle, then towards the end of a long straight when acceleration has started to fade to get the motor over the power dip caused by the ignition map and big carb - It is not just about putting the throttle down steadily coming off the apex. It is counter-intuitive, but he will have to relearn throttle application and pay attention to what the motor is telling him - which is part of the extra skill needed in Rotax.- being passed by everyone who is using the "right" technique should help focus his mind !
