It really depends on what class you want to enter, what level of skill you retain and teh amount of practice you want to put in.
Operating from Clay you have either TKM or Blue as a cheap karting and both have a regular club presence at Clay.
If you are only doing one event in the year, and very limited practice, then I would be cautious about doing something like the TKM festival, because the impact of not being as good as one was can be quite severe. I have seen a number of drivers become slightly depressed or desperate when their current age / skill doesn't meet the expectations of their former glories.
At the high level club standard without going to national events, there's the Matthew Percy Cup being contested at Clay this weekend for Formula Blue / 2 Counties Kart Club.
A sprinkling of numbered drivers who can hold their own in any championship plus a number of other club drivers.
It may not have the cachet or size of some other events but it may be more suitable depending on budget and practice. I know that a couple of years off and a big reduction in practice knocked a second or two off my times, and without doing a whole lot more track time, I'm not going to get those back.
You pays your money, takes your choice.
