Sounds to me like you want a pro-kart.

Turn up, pull the chord(s!) and off you go!

Other than the usual routine maintanence (spanner checking and cleaning) all you really need to do is change the oil every now and again.

If you are not racing you can go for seasons between engine rebuilds.

If you did decide you want to enter a race meet, there are likely to be grids around the country in both sprint and endurance.

Only down sides are you need two of everything engine and drive train related, and that it is quite hefty if you are planning on manouvering it around on your own.
