..arguing? WHO's ARGUING!!!! :)
I think you may be right in that we are looking at the same point slightly differently and having looked back to my replies, I apologise as thats my fault as I can see I have gone off very slightly from the original posting... intention of message/content in postings can have that effect I find, hence why I rarely get involved in lengthy threads, but ......just for you Dean!!!
I understand this thread is not intended to compare the old chassis to current ones, got that now ....but, correct me if am wrong, I see it as we are trying to decide if it is the tyres that have made the difference, and nothing else ......if that is the case, then I continue to believe that tyres alone are NOT the reason for the increased pace and lap records going etc
regarding your reply;
I do not believe we have the same model chassis now as 2010 version. I have to declare, we had a break from karting between 2008 and 2011 so can't talk categorically about what was available in 2010, but......25mm stub axles??? wider use of magnesium components??? ...they are just a couple of things that have varied since 2010
regarding the current chassis, I believe people ARE using them better - there is far greater ubnderstanding of what changes make now than a few years ago ..seat stays???
I do not agree they have NOT changed ....anyone bought the latest version TonyKart?? of course they have, thousands of them in fact...why??? 'cause it HAS changed, HAS been improved (apparently) and therefore MUST be different to previous one or the one in 2010, maybe not to look at or in it's fundamnetal design, but it IS different to those earlier versions and that is not confined to OTK, that is the case with them all (in my opinion)
we also must consider engines and particularly cnc barrels - whether you like it or not, whether you agree or not, the fact is they have had a HUGE effect on performance, and whilst I absolutely agree with you regarding the flaw of the engine in it's power and therefore ability to cope with the current grip levels, you cannot dismiss the effect of cnc barells being contributory to the reason why lap times have come down
...and just for clarity ....... I DO NOT find the introduction of new tyres versus older/used sets to make the differences in time you are now, and the initial posting suggests. I believe those gains have come from other areas ASWELL as the tyres
