yes! on a Saturday practice, removing the restrictor to use the extra speed to view a set up on the chassis at more extreme speeds is perfectly legal, and me and my driver have ALWAYS freely admitted doing it to anyone! it is an invaluable tool for chassis set up and has taught us loads about our chassis! we very very rarely use it now only if we visit a new track to get chassis set up feed back.it is so obvious to see when we do this, I think at one track we are close to 3 seconds a lap faster, so it is not exactly subtle!!! it is something we do at new tracks, several of his friends alsO do it,thought it was pretty common really! obviously the msa required restrictor has to be replaced for racing. it is so much more honest to be open about these things than say... using an illegal oil or tyre softener!!
