Quick update after my post last month...
We DOUBLED the number of TKMs at Hooton to two of us for July. Doesn't seem much? Think again. 3 heats of really close bumper to bumper racing, with not a fag paper separating the karts for much of the time, and best laps for both karts within a few hundredths. (Heat 1 was 37.42 and 37.43). Even managed not to hit each other once! All went a bit wrong for the final, but just goes to show that a couple more karts turning up and this brilliant MSA class could spring back to life.
So: Hooton Park Sunday August 18 - The Grosvenor Cup.
3 sighting laps 10 minutes (I think...) Timed Qualifying 2 Heats (typically 12 laps) Final (typically 15 laps)
Close racing, friendly atmosphere, just 1/2 hour from the Lymm Junction on the M6, for once it doesn't clash with the TKM Festival, hardly any excuses not to come and discover the joys of MSA karting in Cheshire.
TKM Junior also available, AND if 2 or more TKM 4-strokes are interested in racing at Hooton Park, just contact me or Bob Wilson at the circuit, as ChKRC are happy to get something up and running of there's any interest.
At Sunday's post-event trophy presentation TKM 2-stroke was described as an "important" MSA class. And it is, in loads of ways. Very much the Formula Ford of karting, there is no reason why it shouldn't live just as long as Formula Ford has (43 years old and very much alive and well by my maths).
But don't turn up out of pity, or just to try to keep it alive. Turn up because it's always really good racing. You know it makes sense!
All other usual classes available, but TKM is still the most affordable fun.
