You did miss out Blue and then there is easykart, Club 100 etc. Although not all of these affect normal club meetings, they do race at tracks around the country and add to the booking issues.
There are also the extra `major' events such as Kartmasters, O plate, Midlands championships, Welsh and Scottish championships, must be some others.
There are some great tracks around the country that are very restricted on the number of race meetings they can hold so it all makes life more difficult for club and series oranisers.
Some clubs could hold special pre S1 meetings - maybe PF could but I doubt if Shenington would have a spare weekend.
Are the drivers/parents part of the problem? We all know that a club meeting just before S1 will probably be very busy. So why do so many go that weekend rather than the month before? Not getting at you here as we did the same thing. At a track like PF there are lots of practice days if you want to learn the track or play with set-up. Would we gain more from that than attending a very crowded race weekend?
If memory serves me well I believe that a few years ago it was pointed out that the MSA can not stop new classes although they did have to approve the class regulations. Is this still the case now?
Maybe the MSA together with the ABKC could restrict the number of classes running national championships and that would probably reduce the number of classes but it would not be popular.
