I think I understand what you are talking about, if so you will need to buy a crank locking tool http://www.spellfame.co.uk/acatalog/hqcranklocker.jpg or a spark plug stopper http://www.spellfame.co.uk/acatalog/pistonstop.jpg that will lock the crank and you will be able to remove the engine sprocket. I don't know of any issues with an 11 front sprocket but i'm not sure, if I was you I would go for an 12 front sprocket.
