Remember the old rule..... the more expensive an item is, the BETTER you will believe it goes as you have INVESTED the most in it: if you didn't think it made you faster, then you have admitted you wasted your money on a 'fashion item'......

If it's cheap, you'll be sure you should have bought the MORE expensive item... that's fashion for you!

Like every other 'fashion item', get the sellers/promoters to explain the PHYSICS of how it works. Ideally, get TWO explanations from two people.... you'll probably find they differ so much, you'll think you are talking about two separate items....

So... do they work better because the air inside is less and heats up less.... or more..... or because they are more/less flexible.... or because there is more metal and THAT heats slower/faster, retains heat better.... because there is less air inside to expand with heat.... because they dissipate heat faster/slower..... because they are HEAVIER....... and so on.... plus other totally spurious suggestions? I bet you'll hear ALL those suggestions and some I haven't even guessed at, yet!

Don't even START to ask what's supposed to 'better' about Magnesium than Aluminium....... For precision, NEITHER is 'better'.... they are just DIFFERENT!

The next part is.... how can ANYONE else know what to do to make your kart better unless they know, INITIMATELY, what it is that's making your kart 'slow'? Let's just take ONE of the suggestions.... that low volume wheels contain less air and thus there is less change in pressure as the tyres warm..... The people telling you this really OUGHT to know that it's the WATER in the air that changes the pressure most with change in temp.... thus, if you were running 'dried air' or bottled nitrogen (etc.) then those 'magic wheels' would have almost ZERO effect on pressure change with temp..... do those advising you KNOW that you don't run 'dried air'........?

Unless you have got money to waste....... don't! £500 quid spent on tyres, practice sessions, driver training, tuning, getting fit, etc., etc., will do more for you.

Still.... I am old and unfashionable, so what the hell do I know?

Ian
