Hi
We have been karting with my sons new junior rotax engine and gillard chassis since august last year and everytime he gets into the 45s laptimes at our track, not far off the front runners. Suddenly, for the past three practice days (over a period of 2 months) he is a second off...we are now consistently in the 46s and can't get into the 46s, whereas, the other drivers are getting faster.
My son keeps complaining that the kart has 'no grip' on all these occasions, can chassis setup really lose you 1 second in laptimes or should I be focussing elsewhere.
The carb and engine seem to be running smoothly, no popping, no unusual noises, no smoke, no hesitany - but it the carb or engine be responsible for a this loss?
The exhaust should be okay, I changed the wadding a while back and put one of those steel protectors that go over the top so should last quite a while - I also seal the exhaust - but could it suddenly be the exhaust that has lost us this time?
I am at a loss and my son is close to sacking me as his mechanic !!!!!!
